    The Plain shield is often used on the very oldest of coats of arms or Family Crests. it is a simple design, humble, honorable, without too much decoration and is intended to be elegant, simple, unfussy. Many simply have a single charge (a lion, stag, crescent, etc.) on them. Some even have just a single color and absolutely nothing else!
